Dear Parents,

I hope you and your family are well.  Here is a reminder of some upcoming events:

March 1st Fun Table Quiz Fundraiser:  The Parents’ Association are organising  a fun table Quiz for adults and juveniles in the Killarney Oaks Hotel at 8.30p.m. Tables of Four Adults €40, Children €20. Please come and support our school.

1st Prize : €100

Many other prizes and spot prizes.   This will be a fun family night out.

Adult involvement and supervision would be greatly appreciated.  If you cannot be there on the night your donation would be very welcome. A big thank you to those who have already sent in spot prizes.

The Gathering: On Friday 22nd February  we are delighted to welcome traditional musicians and dancers from the Gathering.  Children can bring their musical instruments to join the fun.

Mini-Sevens  Boys Football:  Mini-Sevens  Boys Footbal will take place at Dr. Croke’s Pitch Tuesday 5th March.

Mini-Sevens Girls Football:  Mini-Sevens Girls Football will take place in  Dr. Croke’s Pitch Thursday 7th March.

Swimming: 5th and 6th class completed six swimming sessions at the Aquila Club and will be presented with their Swim Ireland Certificates shortly.  3rd and 4th class will commence their six sessions on Thursday 21st February.

Talk on the internet, potential dangers of social networking, mobile phone safety etc. As part of the  preparation programme for Confirmation 2013, the parish would like to support parents in a practical way.  Killarney parish invites all parents/guardians of children receiving the sacrament of Confirmation to a talk on Wednesday 20th February in the Dromhall Hotel from 7.30p.m. to 9p.m.  The talk will be led by Dr. Maureen Griffin.  Maureen is an Associate Lecturer in University College Cork. Dr. Maureen’s talk will be very informative on how our children use the Internet and other forms of technology and potential dangers of social networking.  It also includes chatting online and understanding the lingo, cyber-bullying –  why it happens, how to spot it and what to do, mobile phone safety and practical advice/tips on how to protect children when online or on their mobile phone.

Confirmation Practices: Confirmation Practices will take place in the Cathedral on Thursday 21st February, Tuesday 5th March and Friday 8th March at 11.15a.m. Help with transport would be greatly appreciated.  We will be returning to school at 12.30p.m.

 Confirmation Ceremony: The Confirmation Ceremony will take place in the Cathedral on Wednesday 13th March at 11a.m.  School will close at noon on that day.  Children and sponsors are to be seated at 10.40a.m.

Our Lenten Raffle has been launched.  Proceeds go to support the Loreto School we are twinned with in  Jicamarca in Peru.  Children are asked to bring in suitable prizes e.g. toys, books etc. What you no longer need may be a treasure to someone else.  Tickets cost 25 cent each  €1.00 per strip or 6 strips for €5.

Monday 18th March Bank Holiday : School will be closed.

Easter Holidays: School will close at 12 noon on Friday 22nd March for the Easter holidays and re-open on Monday April 8th

Enrolments: If you have any family member or know of any child intending to start in Scoil Bhríde, Loreto in September 2013 please ask them to complete an Enrolment Application Form and a Registration Form immediately.

If you have any queries on school related matters do not hesitate to make an appointment to see the class teacher or myself.
