News letter

19th September 2013

Dear Parents,

I hope you and your family are well.  Here is a reminder of some upcoming events:

Earth Week:  Earth week begins this Friday 19th September.  On Friday the school will relaunch our recycling campaign (old mobile phones, print cartridges and batteries). Park ‘n’ Stride from Loreto Chapel Apartments  and car pooling will also be in operation. Also 4th and 5th class have been  invited by the Kerry Diocesan  Council to display their water project and their art work in a local parish church to celebrate Earth Week.  All other classes have been busy planting bulbs at the front of the school.  Thank you for making every day in Loreto an Earth Day!

Novena Mass Wednesday 25th September:  The children from Loreto and Loughquittance have been invited to sing at 10.30a.m. on Wednesday 25th September as part of the Novena.  Could parents please car pool and  arrange to drop the children from 4th, 5th and 6th classes to the Cathedral at 9.45a.m., for choir practice and bring them back to school after mass.  Sorry for any inconvenience caused.  We are trying to avoid the expense of hiring a bus. Please wear full school uniform.

IRD Duhallow Schools’ Folklore Project: 6th class will take part in a Radio Kerry programme with five other schools in October as part of the IRD Duhallow School’s Folklore Project.  They will read essays written by Loreto pupils in 1938 and talk about them.  They may also chat about local history and discuss the projects they did last year.

If you have any queries on school related matters do not hesitate to make an appointment to see the class teacher or myself.

Again my sincere thanks for your help and co-operation.

Kind Regards,

Mary O’Sullivan   Principal
